History of the brand

The history of the Sigma brand dates back to the year 1722, when the first ever paint production company - Peter Schoen&Son - was founded close to Amsterdam. The brand name Sigma Coatings was first used in 1972, upon the merger of the 3 largest Dutch coating producers.

Thanks to combining the innovative technology with the uncompromising product quality, Sigma has soon become the most frequently selected brand in the Benelux countries and has gained significant position amongst the professionals in Germany, Denmark, Italy and Poland.
